Kid Trunks has the benefit of all the training and access to Vegeta but no real reason to fight and grow through battle. Also in the gravity training he was struggling until he went SSJ. That's a strength multiplier. So he is strong but Vegeta was increasing his base. God Goku Vs Future Trunks.
